WORK HAS FINALLY BEGUN

The refurbishment of the technical facilities began with the dismantling of the old 1,300,000 kcal/h cooling tower situated on the roof of Tower C on Via Camperio, right in the heart of Milan. This was subsequently replaced by a new, state-of-the-art cooling tower, specifically designed to deliver the same capacity but with a smaller footprint and reduced noise and visual impact.

The challenging lifting operations to a height of over 50 metres on the roof of Tower C were planned and organised to avoid any potential setbacks, achieving excellent technical and scheduling results, but above all ensuring the safety of the workers.

Work continued in the basement air-conditioning plant, with the replacement of the old refrigeration units with new, more efficient and high-performance ones, carried out by lifting and lowering them through an opening cut into the slab on the garden level. Scheduling these operations at night minimised disruption to residents.

The various activities were supervised by NCA Engineering, which also managed safety aspects, ensuring all work was carried out in a controlled manner, with risks reduced to a minimum. Everything proceeded in accordance with the timelines and procedures agreed with the contractor, so that the new air-conditioning system can be commissioned for the 2024 summer season.

WORK ALMOST COMPLETE

Work on Via Camperio is nearing completion, and we like to think that flowers are about to bloom above the chillers - a symbol of our commitment not only to efficiency, but also to aesthetics and harmony with the environment.
Construction supervision and safety management were coordinated by NCA Engineering, whilst the high level of professionalism of Climacento S.r.l., the chosen installer, ensured that the work proceeded smoothly, adhering to the agreed timetable, maintaining high quality standards and ensuring safety, without causing any inconvenience to residents.
This project is an example of how, in modern engineering, functionality and beauty can coexist, transforming functional areas into green spaces.

 

Period: year 2022

PURPOSE OF SERVICE

Design of mechanical, electrical and civil/structural plant systems, works management, testing and commissioning, site safety coordination, as part of plant requalification works for the purposes of plant energy efficiency and not the mere replacement of existing plants with equivalent systems, in order to optimize consumption (including winter) and to access the incentive systems implemented by the Italian state.

HIGHLIGHTS

The building is located in Via Manfredo Camperio, on the corner of Via Giorgio Giulini in the historic center of Milan. The complex is made up of four distinct blocks, which arose in different historical periods.

The plant design paid particular attention to the principles of sustainability, functionality and above all energy saving, replacing the existing systems, which were old and had bacterial proliferation phenomena (refrigeration plant and evaporative tower) or which performed poorly energetically (methane boilers) or which were functionally ineffective. (UTA and accounting), with new generation machines and equipment, aimed at energy saving, environmental protection and functional efficiency, making the intervention fall within the incentive mechanisms.
